Music, for me is meditation. When I play, I consciously open up to bring this quality to all who listen. Music can touch, heal and inspire in a way that nothing else can. Playing for those who want to go within and open to the healing magic of music is a special joy.

Violin and Harp
The violin and harp together create an atmosphere of mystical enchantment.  Harpist Jane Saunders and I have worked together for many years.  Together, we can play light classical music, celtic music, or we can improvise on a mood or a colour for you.

Indian Music
My passion for Indian music began in 1994 when I studied Indian violin at The Bhavan Centre of Indian Music and Dance in London with Mr Chandrashekar. I often play duets with sitarist Ricky Romain. 

Indian music is based on ragas. Ragas are a series of notes similar to a western scale - and there are hundreds of different ragas. Each Raga has a story and an emotion connected to it, as well as a special time of day it should be played.  The translation of the word raga is “colour”. I think of the Ragas as different colours of the soul.  Indian classical music is music that is improvised around a certain Raga.  


Taster Workshop
I would recommend this for groups of people who love to chant and sing.  It can be part of a meditation event or a module within a workshop.  

The 'Taster' includes:
  • Preparing to sing - exercises and warm-ups for the voice
  • Learning the notes of a simple raga
  • Giving confident singers simple melodies they can improvise with.
  • The group singing whilst I improvise on the violin.
  • Helping the group create their own piece of Indian music. Some people can improvise, some can provide an ongoing simple chant.
